Fans of the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, have recalled Sandra Oh’s performance as Dr. Cristina Yang, and revealed that if she was actually a doctor, she would be very bad for these reasons.
Grey’s Anatomy, the popular ABC medical drama, is preparing to begin production on its 18th season, leaving many fans worried that it could be the final season. However, fans who have been calling for the return of actress Sandra Oh as Cristina Yang have made some comments about her character.
Recall that in the early seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, Cristina Yang first appeared as a surgical intern before becoming a resident and as a partner in cardiothoracic surgery.
Yang holds a doctorate in medicine from Stanford and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and she decided to become a doctor after her biological father died in a car accident when she was a child.
However, some fans describe her as competitive, reckless, and even robotic. Due to her past trauma, Cristina has trouble dealing with her emotions and is often cold and indifferent, which some fans pointed out on Reddit:
“Patient care, bedside manners and empathy are very important, and Cristina lacks all of that.“
While other fans say Cristina grew in areas she lacked, such as empathy and patient care, in later seasons, though after her time in Minnesota at Mayo Clinic, Cristina had some positive changes.
Many fans are looking forward to seeing her in the Grey’s Anatomy finale, with a surprise appearance. But sadly, the same actress, Sandra Oh, has no plans to return anytime soon, as she confirmed in an interview for Vulture.
“I left the show, my God, almost seven years ago. So in my mind, it’s gone … I’ve moved on. “
