One of the NCIS Los Angeles characters who has suffered the most injuries since the show started is Agent Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah), even the producers had terrible plans for the character, which even the actress spoke about it.
During an interview for CheatSheet in 2017, actress Daniela Ruah mentioned that her character will undergo an extremely important change, especially in terms of her appearance.
The confession came when the host asked her what was most surprising for her character in the eighth season of the show, to which she responded with a life-changing injury.
“So Kensi weakens for a short time and finally recovers. Originally, it was said that she would really lose a limb. And I remember our showrunner saying, ‘What do you think about that? ‘”,
“I was almost so devastated by Kensi because it’s a little hard to emotionally distance myself from her when it comes to her happiness or sadness, whatever it is.“
Had this injury been applied to Daniela Ruah it might have meant the early departure of her character, due to the loss of one of her limbs, in addition to the difficulty of portraying this kind of character.
Although it wasn’t the first time the show tried to horribly hurt Kensi Blye, like when her helicopter is shot down while she’s part of a team chasing a terrorist in the desert, and some of the debris immobilizes her.
This situation ended in a spinal cord injury that caused temporary paralysis in her hands and legs, losing sensitivity, which led to a story of character recovery.
