The farewell of NCIS season 18 on CBS, has saddened all viewers with the unexpected departure of Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham). But why was she never interested in Torres (Wilmer Valderrama)?
Episode 16 of NCIS season 18, titled “Rule 91” featured an unexpected twist with Agent Bishop, as Torres’ heart broke seeing her say goodbye to everyone.
During a recent interview with TV Line, the actor Wilmer Valderrama said Torres will never trust people again. When she first joined NCIS, didn’t reveal much about herself and was wary of most people.
She did, however, begin to open up and include his teammates in her life. After experiencing so much abandonment, Torres will retire again.
Gary Glassberg, late NCIS executive producer, in a special interview with CBS, said that he wanted to separate Bishop and her husband, because broken relationships among agents are common in real life.
“Divorce is common in the real world of federal agents It’s a very stressful situation, and races are moving in different directions. When we introduced her, we were intrigued by the idea that in an agency like the NSA, you can’t talk about your work unless you’re married to another NSA agent. If you put her as an NCIS agent and he stays at the NSA, if their only thing in common is their jobs, then things will start to deteriorate.”..
This means that Bishop and Torres were never meant to be together, and if they were, it wouldn’t be for long, because of their differences as NCIS agents.
