NCIS fans are still convinced Ziva David will make another guest appearance on the series, and a crucial exchange at the end of season 16 has hinted at her return.
NCIS fans are now more convinced than ever that the next episode will feature an old favorite, Ziva David (Coté de Pablo), because of how the series ended.
Following the exit of Jack Sloane (Maria Bello), it has also been confirmed that Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) will be leaving the series, with team leader Leroy Gibbs (Mark Harmon) taking on a part-time role in the future.
With this in mind, there is still speculation that one of the series’ most popular and enduring characters, Ziva David, may reappear in the next episode. It was originally thought to have been killed off in season 11, but Ziva made a shocking return to the series at the end of season 16.
As production begins on NCIS season 19, a crucial omen was discovered during Ziva and Gibbs’ reunion in the series’ season 16 finale.
Gibbs and Ziva share an emotional reunion upon seeing the former agent at his home before she begins questioning her former boss about his disappearance. Ziva admitted that she felt abandoned when the team refused to investigate the reports of her death and did not go looking for her.
She later assured Gibbs that if the roles were reversed and he went missing or was presumed dead, she would not hesitate to conduct an investigation. Given the shocking events of the previous season’s finale, fans believe this is a foreshadowing of Ziva’s return next season.
Now that Agent Bishop has left the office, Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Sean Murray (Wilmer Valderrama) will need all of their hands on deck to find their former boss. Season 19’s cast is rounded out by newcomers Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) and Alden Park (Gary Cole).
Still, if Gibbs and Ziva’s emotional reunion is to be believed, Coté de Pablo, could appear in an episode or two of NCIS to provide much-needed assistance to the team.
