NCIS: Why Pauley Perrette will never return to CBS' Criminal Investigative drama

For 15 seasons, Abby Sciuto became one of NCIS fans’ favorite characters until Pauley Perrette’s departure in 2018. The former crime drama star said she will not return to the series for several reasons.

CBS‘ long-running crime series NCIS returns in late September with its 19th season, and a reshuffle in its cast that puts Mark Harmon in a recurring role, as the iconic Leroy Gibbs, the main character he has played since the show’s first episode.

NCIS fans are very lucky. Since the beginning of the drama’s 18th season, speculation about Mark Harmon ‘s exit kept NCIS viewers in a state of anxiety. When it was finally announced that the series had been renewed for its 19th season, it was also confirmed that the main star would be returning, but only for a handful of episodes.

Those who have followed NCIS from the beginning have seen countless characters come and go over the years, laying down their lives in the fascinating plot of the CBS crime series. One of them is Abby Sciuto, the forensic scientist played by Pauley Perrette, who exited the series in 2018 after 15 seasons in the role.

No doubt, for a decade and a half, Abby Sciuto became a fan favorite. After her exit from NCIS, Perrette made a series of harsh accusations against Mark Harmon, which somehow explained her controversial exit from the drama. It also made it clear that she will never return to NCIS for various reasons.

According to the former star of the drama, an incident with Harmon behind the scenes from NCIS and the subsequent consequences were the most compelling reasons that led her to make the decision to leave the crime drama in 2018. The star also confirmed last year that she had permanently retired from acting.

As the actress shared on social media, Leroy Gibbs ‘s interpreter used to take his dog to the filming set, which ended up biting a member of the NCIS team with significant consequences, making Perrette feel unsafe in her workplace.

Despite the incident, Harmon continued to bring his dog on set, which Perrette didn’t like. So he called out his co-star for unprofessional behavior. The result, according to Vanity Fair, was that Harmon and Perrette agreed to stop filming together. After her exit from NCIS, Perrette claimed on Twitter that the media was spreading lies about her. She also claimed that “he did it”, but did not explain who “he” or “that” was. However, it was assumed that she was talking about Harmon. This was tweeted by Pauley on May 13, 2018:
