Sir Tom Jones appeared before a sold-out crowd of 7,000 people in Rhyl (September 1), performing a mixture of songs spanning from his early output in the mid-Sixties to his latest release from earlier this year.

The 81-year-old singer took to the stage at the Events Arena at precisely 8:15pm, kicking off his 90 minute set with his 1965 classic, What’s New Pussy Cat?

A huge stage had been erected in the arena over the course of the past few days for the concert, which was a standing-only event.

As the gig went on, the Grammy winner performed songs from his latest album, Surrounded By Time, which is is 41st and consists of covers that include Bob Dylan’s One More Cup Of Coffee (Valley Below) from 1975.

Wearing a buttoned-up cream jacket and jeans, the Treforest man finished his set at 9:45 p.m. and headed off in the same black Mercedes he had come in, leaving fans – which included some die-hard fans from Nefyn – chanting for more.

The concert was part of Sir Tom’s “A Celebration” tour, which will continue in England and other parts of Europe over the next few months.

The 81-year-old was supported by singer and The Only Way Is Essex actress Megan McKenna, who made an appearance
