Which Blue Bloods Actors are actually from New York?
It’s no secret that Blue Bloods is one of the best-rated shows on the air right now. It’s one of those shows that appeals to multiple generations of viewers because the family depicted on the show is actually multi-generational. There’s something about watching the same family go through life’s ups and downs and seeing how they change from season to season.
So, as you probably already know, Blue Bloods is set in New York City and follows a family of cops as they solve various cases and live life in New York City. Of course, not every cop on the show is a cop, but the show never loses sight of the fact that it’s about a family.
Since the show is set in NYC, you may be wondering if any of the actors are originally from New York City. Surprisingly, there aren’t many. So, let’s take a look at the cast and see where they’re originally from.
Where Are They From?
The Regan family, as they’re referred to on “Blue Bloods”, are all depicted as New Yorkers. However, in real life, the actors on the show come from all over the United States, with one being from Canada. It’s a big change that fans may not have expected, but it doesn’t really have anything to do with the show. After all, these are professional actors. Just give them a role and they’ll be from almost anywhere you want them to be.
You know Danny, his real name is Donnie Wahlberg. He’s probably the only actor who looks and speaks like he’s from New York, but he’s not. He didn’t grow up far away, though. He hails from Boston, Massachusetts. And he’s still very much a part of his hometown. In fact, his family still owns a Wahlburgers restaurant there.
Let’s talk about Frank, shall we?
Tom Selleck is the real name, but he’s the only character that probably doesn’t need to be introduced to most Blue Bloods fans.
Selleck has been on television for many years, but his first brush with fame was on the popular private detective show, Magnum PI, back in the ‘80s.
Yes, he’s been on TV for decades, but he isn’t from New York.
He’s not even from Hawaii! He’s actually from Detroit, Michigan.
It’s interesting to note that Selleck often expressed his love of his hometown while he was on Magnum PI.
Magnum was a show based in Hawaii.
Let’s move on to the Will Estes/Vanessa Ray couple. They don’t hail from New York either. Let’s go to the other coast, and you’ll find that they were both born and raised in California. But that’s not the only place they’ve come from.
Len Cariou, on the other hand, is a native of Winnipeg, Canada, though he’s made his way to New York over the years. In fact, he’s so well-known in Canada that he’s been inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame!
He may be as New York-centric as we’ve come up with so far.
Is Anyone From New York?
By now, you’ve probably asked yourself, “Is anyone in the cast actually from New York?” The answer is “yes!”
Erin Reagan is the cast’s only New York native. Her first name isn’t even Erin. It’s Bridget.
Bridget Moynahan is actually a New York native. She was born and raised in Binghamton, NY, though she did attend college in Massachusetts. She then moved back to New York, where she began her modeling career.
She currently resides in New York City, which makes her the most authentic part of the cast we suppose.
Tony and Andrew Terraciano are also from New York. To be exact, they hail from Westchester. They may play brothers on the show, but they are also brothers in real life. They are Danny’s sons and live in Long Island on the show. You might notice that Tony Terraciano has not on the show recently. That is because he is attending Pelham, a school in his hometown of Westchester.
So, there you have it. There are a few characters on Blue Bloods that are from New York, but not many. There are more actors on the show as well, but they hail from other places around the United States. Enjoy the show.
So that’s it. While there are a few New York-based characters on Blue Bloods, but not many. There are also more actors from other states on the show, but they’re all from different parts of the country. Enjoy the show!
