What is the nationality of NCIS LA star Medalion Rahimi?

NCIS LA star Medalion Rahimi, who is currently living in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress of Iranian descent.

She was born in the USA and spent the first few years of her life in Iran before her family immigrated and has been in the USA ever since.

Rahimi is a US citizen but has previously clarified that she has dual citizenship due to her parents’ heritage.

A major factor why she wanted to take on the role of Fatima in NCIS LA was to do with representation, according to the 30-year-old.

Opening up to Film Forum about her role as Fatima Namazi, Rahimi said: “She’s an agent who just joined the team, who is also a Muslim hijabi woman, which is really exciting.

“A lot of the times I’ve gone up for a lot of Muslim roles just because I’m Iranian and I’m technically Muslim, but spiritual in my own way.

“But a lot of them have been to play spies or terrorists or mentally ill persons.

“It’s nice to finally have a role where I’m a real person, a real person on the good side of things, allowing Muslims to define themselves without a Western agenda smacked onto it.”

Little else is known about Rahimi’s private life as she tends to keep personal details out of the spotlight.

She did, however, give a brief insight into her upbringing in August as she posted a tribute to her mum and dad.

Having celebrated 35 years of marriage, Rahimi shared a collection of adorable photographs of her parents over the years.

She wrote: “Congratulations to my makers on 35 years of love. Thank you for showing me that it really can conquer all.”

Fans of Rahimi will most recently recognise her from the Hulu and Disney+ biopic Pam and Tommy.

She portrayed Danielle, Erica’s (Taylor Schilling) girlfriend who Rand (Seth Rogen) was jealous of.

Rahimi was also in the 2017 Shonda Rhimes series as Still Star-Crossed as Princess Isabella.

Some of her other projects have included The Catch, My Dead Ex, The Outpost and She’s in Portland.

Season 14 episode two, Of Value, will be released on Sunday, October 16, on CBS.

The description reads: “After an architect duo who specialises in designing secure buildings is kidnapped, the NCIS team mounts a search to bring them home.

“Also, Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi (Daniela Ruah) realise they may need to get Rosa (Natalia Del Riego) some help with her schoolwork.”

NCIS Los Angeles season 14 continues every Sunday on CBS in the USA. A UK release date hasn’t been announced.
