Who knew? When Paramount Network axed Yellowstone, a major Dutton family twist got lost in the shuffle.

Christian rocker Cory Asbury recently revealed to Taste of Country that he had been cast as a long-lost brother of Kayce Dutton for Season 6. This would have made him a sibling to Beth and Jamie as well. "I was fired up about it and so bummed when it was cancelled," Asbury shared.

The singer/songwriter's family was all-in on the move to Montana for a year to film. "Anna gave me the OK," he disclosed on the Dutton Rules podcast, "and our kids were like, 'OK, cool, we'll live in Montana.'" This surprise casting would have shaken up the Dutton family tree and added a new layer of complexity to the popular Western drama.

The cancellation decision came halfway through Yellowstone's Season 5. The back half of the season, concluding the series, begins airing in November 2024.

Don't worry, Yellowstone fans, the franchise lives on with two new spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, the latter set to star Matthew McConaughey. The back half of Season 5, including the series finale, will air in November 2024.
