MWC 2021 has begun, and Qualcomm is among the first to make an announcement. The company has unveiled a new system circuit called Snapdragon 888 Plus, which will appear in phones from Motorola, Vivo, Xiaomi and Asus, among others, in the third quarter. The Plus version, like the previous Plus variants, will be a bit more powerful than before and this time it’s the processor and AI chip that have gotten some love. The powerful Kryo 680 processor has been bumped up from 2.84 GHz to 2.995 GHz speed, and the AI engine should be capable of processing 32 trillion calculations per second, up from 26 trillion.
The system circuitry is now available to manufacturers and, as previously stated, will begin to appear in phones in the third quarter.
